Dry Out House

Dry Out House

Don’t waste your waste!

Use it to spruce up the place!

As the grass and weeds grow; it is collected, used, and I’m thankful. When the leaves are not covered by snow, so too they will meet the goal. Me and my land, we are wild, to everyone else it may show. We are not tame yet we are life in full.

Use a Dry Out House?

Conventional plumbing has been a mark of a civilized people for some thousand years. Who knows, maybe more, and could be less… There seems to be a better way to manage that which we choose to flush away. Instead of making poison with our poo and sending it on, we could take hold of our resource and use those materials our bodies have already began to process.

There are stories of dirt that fuels forests, and that knowledge of how it was made is has been lost. However, it may only be lost by choice. A choice of convivence. Where there is a more sanitary and productive way to handle the situation. A little more messy on the individual scale, don’t ask a drain cleaner or plumber what they get into on a daily basis, yet less smell, water waste, and less mess as whole. It seems that a part of what made that soil so legendary, was the humans that worked with it, and their willingness to process their waste with the world around them to transmute it into a resource. This black soil is found in fertile lands across the globe and goes by many names. Through archaeological discovery and scientific research they may find that the people have taken their waste, processed it through thermophilic composting, and utilized it on the land as a fertilizer. Though it may take some work and experimentation for each individual and the needs of the land, yet that is what it will take to regain the knowledge.

You can find those around that have done this work and brought back much of this lost knowledge. However there is still some nuance as to how it can be utilized and if it is safe. Let me first state that it is done on a larger scale, under the guise of being higher level of safety, but most don’t realize that it happens. Out of sight, out of mind. Waste water treatment is there for that purpose. It takes our sewage separates and treats the components and sends an acceptable sludge to fertilize fields. The difference is when an individual takes the responsibility in hand, then they keep the resource. The large scale uses chemicals and tests to show that things are alright to use. While the localized individual can use natural process in their own back yard to keep the resources for themselves. The large scale waste countless gallons of clean water, where if you do right yourself you can use as little water as it takes to clean your supplies. You can reclaim your place in natures cycle and take hold of your resources at the same time, it will just take a change of practice and a change of mind.

If you made it this far you are probably curious of what this is all about, and still what is a dry out house… It is hard to say if some of the way we set up our modern way of living can be changed to incorporate a dry compost toilet into their life. For example, if you live in an apartment complex this may not be an option at all. I would mainly suggest it if you are looking to have an off-grid living situation, or like me you are willing to alter much of how your house operates. That is why we have come up with Dry Out Houses. This option can bring more facilities to a large areas where one may wish to set up a cabin, where a park is lacking in restrooms, or even a back forty is too far away to make it to the house and relieve oneself. They need not be thought of in the terms of the out houses of old or portable potties of new. These dry outhouses will be apart of and a major contributor to the ecosystem in which they are set.
